Blessed Coast, the annual festival celebrating art and community, is back in Squamish from July 27 to July 30.
The festival celebrates the rich coastal culture of BC by showcasing Yoga Teachers, Leaders and First Nations Elders alongside artists from around the world, said spokesperson Todd Hauptman. He said the local festival is multi-day camping and music festival experience that is becoming recognized as one of the world’s top curated bass, electronica and live music events.
“Blessed Coast is smaller and more intimate than the international festivals we’ve seen in the Sea-to-Sky, adding to it’s distinctly west-coast vibe. The young team of local event producers have designed a unique multi-day experience that includes Art Installations, an extensive Art Gallery, beautiful riverside camping, a local artisan marketplace and in-depth teachings and workshops from elders and speakers. Blessed Coast is family-friendly and encourages people of all ages to join in the fun,” he said.
Festival organizer Kala said they wanted to create a festival that truly represented what they love about BC, the beautiful backyard and talented artists and teachers.
“We have been so happy to see our community grow over the past four years.” said Kala. The festival has deep roots with the local First Nations leaders who are an active part of the festival including leading opening ceremonies and teachings,” he said.
Held yearly on Cheekye Ranch, Blessed Coast is Canada’s greenest festival, being the first to be 100 per cent renewably powered in 2017. Blessed Coast has a range of local and international artists and producers performing at the event. These include; Deya Dova, Atyya, Goopsteppa, Oakk, Shimshai, Yaima, Stratusphere, Handsome Tiger, Alpha Yaya Diallo, Erica Dee, Buckman Coe and many more.
“Blessed Coast started with a simple desire for us to celebrate our coastal community in our own way, now we are happy to say that we bring in some of the world’s top environment designers, stage designers, projection mapping artists and musicians. It has been an amazing journey so far and we invite everyone to become a part of this growing tradition.” Kala noted.
