Your daily commute is one of ‘World’s Best Journey’

July 17, 2018 2:41am

If you ever find the commute to and from the city to Squamish taxing, think of this story.

Driving on the Sea to Sky Highway has been ranked among the world’s top 50 Travel Journeys in 2018, according to a new ranking by Flight Network.

“We have carefully selected and ranked 50 of the World’s Best Travel Journeys© with the help of 515 of the industry’s leading travel professionals,” said Nicole Young of Flight Network.

Squamish came in at number 46 out of 2500 journeys evaluated.  Calling it ‘drive of a lifetime’ the judges gave a drive on Highway 99 a fawning review.

“Curving along cool waters of the Pacific, the Sea to Summit Highway snakes north from Vancouver for 120 km before reaching the resort town of Whistler in the Coast Mountains and it’s a drive of a lifetime,” the entry notes.

The World’s Best Journeys list for 2018 is collaboration between Flight Network and over 500 of the world’s top travel journalists, agencies, bloggers, and editors.

“It’s a list that will captivate and inspire travellers to embark on life changing adventures now, and for years to come,” said Young.

Expedition to Antarctica was placed first on the list. Driving the Pacific Coast Highway in the US, and driving on Iceland’s Ring Road are some of other driving experiences included in the World’s Best Journeys.
