Sea to Sky RCMP received notification of an overdue private airplane that had departed from Squamish Airport and failed to return, according to the news release.
The notification came just after 10 p.m. on June 20, 2026, prompting the Squamish Detachment to take initial steps to locate the aircraft. According to the news release, RCMP were assisted in the search by Whistler and Squamish Search and Rescue teams and CFB Comox 442 Squadron.
The missing plane was subsequently located in the Brandywine Valley. Its occupants were found and transported to hospital with serious injuries.
According to the news release, the investigation will be referred to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, and no further information will be released by Sea to Sky RCMP as a result.
RCMP thanked their Search and Rescue partners for their assistance during the initial efforts to locate the plane and its occupants.
