Local charged after police seize drugs, weapons from downtown home

August 15, 2018 11:10am

A Squamish man has been charged after RCMP executed a search warrant and located suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia, and weapons at his home in downtown Squamish.

On August 10, Squamish RCMP were called to a home on Third Avenue to arrest the 44-year-old man and his 43-year-old girlfriend for an unrelated event.

While police were inside the residence, they observed what appeared to be drugs and drug paraphernalia.

RCMP returned to the residence to execute a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant. As a result of the search, RCMP seized suspected cannabis, opioids, methamphetamine, cocaine and Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB) along with paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and use, Canadian currency and weapons.

Ghyslain Noel remains in custody following his appearance in court on Sunday August 11. He has been charged with one count of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance. Noel is next scheduled to appear on August 15, 2018. His girlfriend has not been charged.

Any time we can take drugs out of the hands of suspected drug traffickers and keep them off the streets in our community, means a safer more secure community for our kids to live and thrive in,” said Sgt. Jeff Shore of Squamish RCMP.
