Police arrest suspicious man after brief foot chase in Brackendale

September 17, 2018 7:32am

Squamish RCMP has arrested a suspicious man after a brief foot chase in Brackendale .

On Tuesday, September 11, at 2:45 pm, the Squamish RCMP received a report of a suspicious male in the backyard of a property on Ross Road in Brackendale.

The witness was able to provide a detailed description which matched a second witness who had also seen this male at another property on Ross Road.

Squamish RCMP were able to locate the male and arrested after a brief foot pursuit, and investigation later found that he was involved in another Break and Enter at a Brackendale business earlier.

Police also recovered stolen items from him. He was identified as 39-year-old Joshua Lundstrom and he was charged with multiple property offences.

Lundstrom appeared in North Vancouver court on September 17th and was convicted of several offences including Break and Enter and sentenced to two years in jail.

Police are also reporting another break and enter in a garage at a home on Government Road, from where thieves fled away with two mountain bikes, an electric drill, and an electric screwdriver.

The bikes are described as a 2017 Black and Green Giant Reign with Quarq ShockWiz attached and the second a 2015 Black and Blue Transition Scout 2.

There has been another incident of a bike theft from a vehicle parked on Reid Road.

Lost hikers spend evening in cave

Squamish RCMP responded to a report of two females who had failed to return after hiking in Lions Bay. An extensive search of the area by family members and Lions Bay SAR was conducted but they were not located.

However, both women hiked out of the area uninjured later and said they had stayed in a cave for the evening.

Police said the women were not prepared to hike overnight and they had limited food and appropriate clothing. Police is advising people to be prepared and know the area before going on hiking trips.
