DOS warns public about intruder posing as district employee

September 20, 2018 6:38pm

District of Squamish is warning the public of an imposter who has been posing as a DOS employee in town.

DOS communications manager Christina Moore said the district received a phone call from a concerned resident on Mamquam Road on Thursday afternoon, September 20.

The resident said she found someone on her back deck who claimed to be a District of Squamish employee.

The man told the resident he was investigating possible flooding that might be occurring in basements or suites.

This person showed no identification and wasn’t a district employee, Moore said.

Meanwhile, the resident was advised to call the RCMP.

Moore said district employees always carry District of Squamish identification and would always knock on the front door of a home to speak to residents.

The public is asked to be aware and be extra vigilant in light of this situation.
