Police investigate break-in attempt at Britannia Mine Museum

Police are investigating a break-in attempt at the local mine museum where the thieves would have ended up with  more than what they had in mind.

On Tuesday, October 9, Squamish RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at the Britannia Mine Museum.

Entry was attempted to be made on the main mine building to an area which could have been dangerous if anyone had entered, police say.

Nothing appeared to be missing but employees are concerned for the wellbeing of those who choose to enter a location where someone could get seriously injured.

MULTIPLE REPORTS OF VEHICLES TARGETED IN GARIBALDI ESTATES 

On October 10 and 11, 2018, Squamish RCMP received several reports vehicles targeted by thieves in Garibaldi Estates.

The reports all came from Kalodon Drive where at least three vehicles were rummaged through and several items including sunglasses were missing.

Squamish RCMP have seen an increase in theft from Vehicle reports over the last month or so within city limits and are reminding the public to ensure their vehicles are locked and valuable items are removed from them.

HIT AND RUN CAUSES MOTORCYCLIST TO CRASH ON HIGHWAY 99 BY PORTEAU COVE

On Friday, October 12, at approximately 6:30 pm, Squamish RCMP received a report of a motorcyclist who had crashed in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 around Porteau Cove.

The driver of the motorcycle stated he had been rear-ended by a brown sedan causing him to lose control of the bike and skid of the road.  The brown sedan did not stop at the scene.

Luckily the motorcyclist was not seriously injured and was not transported to hospital.  Police are asking for any witnesses to this incident to contact police.
