Yes, another fitness centre might be opening up in the business park in Squamish.

Squamish council will vote on a development permit application for a new light-industrial building project that will likely include a fitness centre.

The new development in the business park on 39359 Queens Way is across from Airhouse and Backcountry Brewing.

The developer is planning to build two, two-storey light industrial buildings, with seven separate light industrial units.

The proposed uses range from warehousing and servicing, manufacturing and a ‘possible fitness facility’ in the two buildings, according to a report on the project.

The land parcel was created as part of a larger subdivision in 2007 and has since been uses primarily for equipment storage.

This is the first such application received for this property.

While there are two gyms within walking distance of this new proposed fitness centre, another new development in the vicinity is also proposing a fitness centre.

District of Squamish has also received a development application for a new industrial building on Queens Way, across from Kal Tire in the business park area in Squamish.

The applicant plans on starting multiple businesses in the building, including a restaurant, a fitness studio and a general warehouse, although those uses could change.

The District of Squamish is also working to revamp its fitness facility at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre.
