Caution urged after cougar seen in Alice Lake trails

April 5, 2019 7:57am

District of Squamish is urging locals to use extra caution after reports of cougar sightings in trails around Alice Lake Provincial Park.

BC Parks staff have posted “Cougar in Area” signs at the base of Debecks Hill, at the head of Jack’s Trail and at the south entrance to the Four Lakes Trail at Alice Lake Provincial Park.

The warning signs were posted after some trail users reported seeing a cougar in these trails.

The district is advising people to be alert, use extra caution in the area, and keep dogs on leash and on the trail.

Cougar sightings or encounters can be reported to the Conservation Officer Service 24/7 hotline at 1.877.952.7277.
