Two pedestrians struck in Garibaldi Highlands

Two pedestrians were struck in separate incidents in the Garibaldi Highlands on Sunday, April 21, according to Squamish RCMP.

The first incident occurred around 12:45 am on Portree Way when a male crossing the road was struck by a dark SUV which fled from the scene.

The man was treated on scene by EHS for minor injuries.

The second incident happened  around 12 pm when a young boy was struck by a black Honda on Rhum and Eigg Drive.

The driver spoke with the child and a parent on scene but left the location before police arrived. The child sustained only minor injuries.

The driver was later found on Industrial Way and was arrested for Driving while Prohibited and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
