A driver fled away from a Squamish RCMP checkpoint on Government Road and then abandoned his car.
The incident happened on the evening of May 31, when Squamish RCMP had set up a road check along Government Road.
Police officers noticed a vehicle was trying to avoid police.
Police followed the vehicle but found it abandoned at the end of a street.
Inside were a cell phone and an unopened beer can in the passenger seat. The vehicle was towed.
On June 1, Squamish RCMP also received a report of a stolen bicycle from an open garage in the 40000 block of Diamond Head Road.
The garage door was left open while the home owner was doing yard work. The bike is a blue and orange CCM Savage.
Squamish RCMP is also reporting that June 1, an unidentified male attempted to steal several bottles of spirits from Gillespie’s Fine Spirits.
The male was confronted and ultimately left the store, leaving behind a blue and orange bicycle. The bike was later identified as the CCM Savage that was stolen from Diamond Head Road.
The bike was returned to the owner.
