Sea to Sky Gondola adds ten new cabins this summer

June 11, 2019 1:49pm

The Sea to Sky Gondola is adding 10 new eight-passenger gondola cabins this summer, increasing its capacity by 50 per cent, the company said.

It is also launching a new acoustic music series called Summer Nights kicks off on Thursday, July 4, which will take place weekly through to August 29.

“With increased capacity and a host of new and returning summer events and activities, the gondola is ready to get back into the swing of summer,” said Michelle Leroux, a communications consultant working with the company.

The Gondola is also bringing back some popular programs and events.

The Mountain Music Series returns every Friday for the sixth year running, and lift passes are 50 per cent when purchased at the ticket window for uploads after 5 pm on Saturdays through to September 14, 2019.

Leroux said the Thursday’s Backyard Seafood Boil will return for a weekly al fresco, long table dining experience starting July 4. This culinary event has a casual backyard feel and is the perfect way to enjoy a long summer night with friends and family, she said.

For those looking to take their health and wellness to new heights in the great outdoors, the Sea to Sky Gondola’s signature early morning hiking program, the Rise + Climb group hike, will take place on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon, Leroux said.

Hikers arriving at the summit by noon receive a complimentary coffee and participation recognition for the chance to win prizes.
