British Columbians are invited to share their views on how time should be observed in B.C.
Most areas of B.C. “spring forward” into daylight saving time during summer months and “fall back” to standard time in the winter.
“I know many people will have strong preferences on this complex question, and this is an opportunity to express them and help government decide our next steps,” Premier Horgan said. “As we monitor what’s happening in other jurisdictions, I look forward to input from British Columbians on how to set our clocks throughout the year.”
Legislators in California, Oregon and Washington have proposed bills to end the bi-annual time change and observe Daylight Saving Time year-round. Premier John Horgan has reached out to the Governors of these states as well as to the Premier of Yukon, to hear their opinions and help inform the discussion in B.C.
The online survey will be available from June 24, 2019, to July 19, 2019, at the link below. The survey website has background information on the history of time observance in British Columbia and the impact of various options, such as changes to the timings of sunrise and sunset at different times of year. The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete.
In addition to the online survey, organizations and individuals are invited to provide written submissions about time observance, which affects many key B.C. industries, such as agriculture and transportation.

Daylight saving all year, but start school an hour later and end an hour later. So School: 10:00am- 4:00pm…. Reason: Mornings would be much darker in the winter and there would be an increased safety issue.
Drop-off for kids going to school should not be a problem, any more than now.
To have regular time all year would mean very early light mornings in the summer time and we would not have the nice late light evenings.
To be in phase with the rest of the West coast would good with total D.S..

I agree especially with later start time. Teens need more sleep. I think we’re over due for a change, no farming going on in my neighbourhood anyway.
