The Basecamp Café and the gift shop at the gondola will be open this weekend, according to a social media post shared by the Sea to Sky Gondola.
“We are missing this view but happy to report that the Basecamp Cafe, Basecamp Gift Shop and Guest Services will reopen for the long weekend. Enjoy a coffee, delicious food or ice cream while the kids play at the playground. Stroll through the sidewalk sale at the retail shop. Deep discounts on @hellyhansen, @thenorthface and more!.”
For those who want their photo taken and get their pass printed can also take advantage of all the passholder perks this weekend. It will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9:30am to 5pm.
Last week, the company announced that pass holders can now enjoy discounts in Squamish as well as Vancouver while work gets underway to reinstate the gondola cabins.
“Our incredible tourism and community partners have stepped up to show our current pass holders the love. While we are inoperable, show your pass for some amazing perks from Squamish to Vancouver,” the gondola management announced in a social media post yesterday.
The management also said the company will honour the pass as if it was frozen on the morning of August 10. “On opening day, your pass will have the exact amount of time you had left on it as of August 10. You will not lose any days on your pass. For example, if on August 10, you had 4 months left until your pass expired, you will have 4 months left on your pass from the first day of reopening.”
The Sea to Sky Gondola is likely to reopen next spring. The gondola was shut down after its cable was cut last week. The RCMP is holding a criminal investigation into the incident.
