BC Ferries says traffic modifications would be in place for motorists on Saturday, September 7 due to the RBC GranFondo Whistler cycling event from downtown Vancouver to Whistler.
For customers planning to travel on sailings departing Horseshoe Bay in the morning on Saturday, September 7, Stanley Park Causeway and Lions Gate Bridge will be closed to northbound traffic from 5:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. During this time, motorists can use the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Bridge. One southbound lane will remain open on the Lions Gate Bridge and causeway. BC Ferries suggests customers allow enough travel time to arrive at the terminal before the scheduled sailing of their choice.
For motorists travelling on sailings that arrive at Horseshoe Bay terminal before 9:30 a.m. on September 7, the eastbound lanes of the Upper Levels Highway will be closed to traffic from Horseshoe Bay to Taylor Way from 5:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. During this time, eastbound motorists will be re-directed through West Vancouver along Marine Drive.
These following sailings will be impacted:
6:30 a.m. sailing from Nanaimo
6:20 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. sailings from Langdale
5:20 a.m., 6:20 a.m., 7:30 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. sailings from Bowen Island
Trucks disembarking from these sailings that are more than 20m in length and 40,000 Kg GVW heading eastbound will be held on Highway 1 at Exit 0 until 9:30 a.m. Drivers of these commercial vehicles may wish to consider taking an alternate sailing.
