Update: Bear charged group of 20 people; trails closed until Oct. 31

Update: BC Parks says the trail and camping in Garibaldi Provincial Park will remain closed until October 31, after an aggressive bear charged at a group of 20 people on the weekend.

The incident happened near Taylor Creek Bridge.

In the latest update, BC Parks said the Taylor Meadows Campground and the Taylor Meadows Loop Trail will be closed until October 31, 2019.

BC Parks has shut down campground and trails in Garibaldi Park because of aggressive bear activity.

“The trail and campgrounds from Rubble Creek Parking lot to Taylor Meadows and Garibaldi Lake are closed due to aggressive bear activity on the trail and at Taylor Meadows campground,” BC Parks posted on social media.

“If you have camping reservations for Taylor Meadows or Garibaldi Lake campgrounds, please contact Discover Camping (www.discovercamping.ca) for information on refunds.”
