Police charge French citizen in fatal crash on Highway 99

October 8, 2019 12:28pm

West Vancouver police have charged a French citizen in connection with a fatal crash that killed a North Shore woman this summer.

47-year-old Alban Queyras of Villefranche, France, has been charged with “Drive a motor vehicle without due care and attention,” clause of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The head-on collision occurred on August 11 when a black Dodge Caravan vehicle crossed over the median and hit a Toyota Yaris.

A 29-year-old woman from North Shore was killed on the scene, while the passengers in the mini-van sustained minor injuries. Four of the six people in the van were visitors from France.

The accident happened in the 7000 block of Horseshoe Bay Drive, near the Pascoe Road interchange on Highway 99.

West Vancouver Police said it won’t be commenting on this incident any further as the matter is now before the courts.
