Squamish RCMP is investigating an incident on Highway 99 in which a truck was hit by a rock the size of a hand. It was thrown by someone from the side of a highway in Squamish.
The incident happened this Tuesday, October 15, before midnight. The rock damaged the passenger side of the vehicle but there were no injuries.
Constable Ashley MacKay of Squamish RCMP said the truck was north bound on the Highway when the incident happened near the Mamquam River Bridge.
The rock was thrown at the vehicle from the east side of the highway.
“It is still under investigation and we will continue to look at alternative reasons. It could have been a lot worse. It could have caused substantial damage and injury and we do take things like this quite seriously,” MacKay told CBC.
No suspects have been identified yet.
