Squamish cardboard cop spray painted in Dentville

October 24, 2019 11:34am

Constable Scarecrow won’t be giving you the scares—at least not until he gets clean. Squamish RCMP is reporting that Cst. Scarecrow was spray painted while on active duty in Dentville.

“This is a workplace injury and has resulted in Officer Scarecrow being unable to report for active duty,” said Sgt. Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP.

Cst. Scarecrow joined the local police force in July, with an aim to enhance road safety. He was often deployed to local school zones, Highway 99 and secondary roads. It has been a bumpy road for the Constable. Besides being spray painted, he was stolen in the summer, although he reappeared, quite miraculously, 12 hours later.

Unlike others, he enjoys working in inclement weather and doesn’t require sleep, although he now requires a bath.

Multiple Vehicle Hit and Run Collision

On October 19, 2019, the Squamish RCMP received a report of multiple vehicles being damaged in a hit and run in the 900 block of Axen Rd, Squamish, BC. Three vehicles were parked in a parking lot at that location and sustained damage overnight.

Bears Still Active

Police are still receiving reports of bears in residential areas. These bears are attracted to garbage bins and fruits still on trees and bushes. The Squamish RCMP are reminding the public to secure their garbage bins and to remove all fruit from trees and bushes, in accordance with Squamish Bylaws, as bears are still active in our community.
