Here’s how you can donate for animals in bushfire crisis

January 9, 2020 6:55pm

A lot of people want to make donations for animal relief in Australia where bushfires have played havoc in several areas, leading to death of dozens of people and a massive loss of wildlife.

But many just don’t know who they should donate to. A number of cases have come to light where scammers collected money from donors online by impersonating as victims or those working for victims.

BC SPCA has issued an appeal for donations for rescue and treatment of animals impacted by bushfires. It has also given a link to the RSPCA Australia website with details for making donations.

“Our hearts are with the people, pets and wildlife of Australia impacted by the devastating wildfires. According to recent estimates, more than a billion animals have died, either directly from the flames, smoke inhalation or loss of food sources and habitat.

“As an animal welfare organization that responds to wildfires and other natural disasters in B.C. we know first-hand how much financial support means in times of crisis.

“If you’d like to help those providing life-saving rescue and treatment for animals in Australia we recommend donations through the RSPCA.”
