UPDATE: Whistler RCMP has confirmed that all missing snowmobilers have been located and are safe. They are  cold and hungry but otherwise good.

The Whistler RCMP said it wishes to thank Whistler Search and Rescue, family, friends and the community for their assistance in ensuring the snowmobilers made it out safe.

Whistler RCMP says nine snowmobilers are currently unaccounted for in the Callaghan.

The nine snowmobilers are in three separate groups, police said.

Police have spoken to the friends and the family of the snowmobilers and said it appears that the snowmobilers are knowledgeable and prepared to spend time in the backcountry, if required.

“One of the group does have satellite tracking and it appears they are trying to make their way out of the area,” Whistler RCMP said.

Whistler RCMP was contacted on the evening of March 1, around 8:50 pm, about the snowmobilers who had not returned home and had not made contact with family or friends.

Their vehicles are still parked in the Brandywine Falls Provincial Park.

Police says that weather in the Brandywine Falls area had quickly changed to zero visibility and appears to have affected their ability to return back safely.

Whistler RCMP are in constant communication with Whistler Search and Rescue and will begin looking as soon as visibility improves.
