The people behind the proposed 30-unit, four-storey apartment building in Brackendale are holding a public information meeting to present details of the application.

The proponents will receive input from the community and respond to questions.

The meeting will take place on March 11, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Brackendale Elementary School.

It will be held in the school gymnasium.

The proponents, Ian Ross McDonald of Carscadden Stokes McDonald Architects Inc., will discuss the development.

Brackendale Hub will be two mixed-use buildings, with commercial on ground floor and rental apartments above.

The Brackendale General Store along with the historic post office and Crabapple Café will be maintained.

The existing dilapidated garage will be demolished.

Brackendale Hub is being proposed on 41665-41707 Government Road, with one building located right next to the historic Canada Post office and the other behind it.

A mix of studio, one-bedroom, and few two-bedroom rental units are being proposed along with two commercial retail spaces. The commercial units are roughly 1,000 square feet.

A parking variance of five spaces is being asked for.

“There will be several outdoor spaces created along with seating and landscape vignettes that help to tie the various spaces together and provide opportunities for community members to gather and interact,” the proponent said.
