Squamish casino denies rumours of COVID-19

Chances Casino has says a rumour about a COVID-19 case at the local Squamish casino is false.

“The rumour is not true and we have not been contacted by public health officials,” said Sandra Shechter, media relations specialist for Chances Casino.

“We are open for business as usual and we continue to closely monitor the situation internationally and in Canada so we can proactively safeguard our customers, employees and business interests,” Shechter said.

She said the casino will continue to work with employees and customers who may be displaying symptoms to ensure they follow public health protocols.

“We are being hyper-vigilant in providing a safe and clean environment for customers and employees. We have increased our cleaning practices to clean and disinfect all hard surfaces and frequently touched surfaces, such as doors, handles and slot machines and other public areas.”

Shechter said the casino has also installed an increased the number of sanitization stations to make it even more accessible to customers and employees.

The casino has also provided more training and resources to the employees to ensure they are well versed on hygiene protocols, she added.
