District of Squamish is closing down trails managed by the district due to high winds.

“Due to wind and public safety concerns over falling trees, the district has closed all district trails until the winds calm down,” according to a DOS update.

Trees are down on the trails and it is too dangerous for the crews to remove them at this time, district said.

The power at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre is on and the centre is open.

Over 4,000 customers were without power this morning and BC Hydro says the crews are being assigned to the outage areas.

“Our crews are responding as quickly as possible to restore power to the affected customers. Individual restoration updates will be provided as soon as they are available,” BC Hydro said.

Meanwhile, the wind warning for Howe Sound continues.
