Group that visited Whistler confirmed positive for COVID-19

staff report
March 19, 2020 6:50pm

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has been made aware about a group that visited Whistler between March 8 and 13 and has since tested positive for COVID-19.

RMOW has been notified that community members may have come in contact with the virus if they were at the  following locations:

Rendez-vous Chalet, Whistler Mountain, Mar 9 between 1-2 pm and Mar 10 between 12-2 pm

Dubh Linn Gate Pub, Mar 10 between 12 – 3 pm

Escape Room, Mar 13 between 1:30 to 4 pm

One or more individuals present at these locations have been diagnosed with COVID-19, RMOW said, without specifying how many people were in the group.

“We know this news can cause significant concern among residents and visitors. The RMOW is being guided by local, provincial and federal health authorities and is following all actions recommended by VCH’s Medical Officer of Health.”

The RMOW is directing everyone in Whistler to practice social distancing. This means:

  • Avoid all non-essential trips into the community
  • Postpone or cancel gatherings
  • Work from home where possible
  • Keep kids away from group settings
  • If you do go out, stay at least two metres away from others, wash your hands often and do not touch your face.

Whistler RCMP, Whistler Fire Service and RMOW Bylaw are out in the community directing the public to follow these practices.
