Quarry Rock and Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver have been closed until further notice because of people ignoring provincial guidelines on social distancing.

Enforcement will take effect as of 7 a.m. Sunday, March 22, according to the District of North Vancouver.

The District of North Vancouver said it took this unusual step as visitors were not following orders of the provincial health officer to maintain a physical distance of 2 metres, despite on-site signage and staff enforcing physical distancing at trail entrances.

BC Parks is limiting access to Seymour Provincial Park and Cypress Provincial Park, but other provincial parks will remain open although facilities such as washrooms have been closed.

“Provincial park visitors may continue to use trails and areas where accessible, however, they will be expected to carry out their own garbage and will be responsible for their own safety. Visitors should be aware parking lots in some parks may be closed and gated where necessary,” BC Parks said.
