Squamish RCMP are investigating two cases of fraud.
On March 16, fraudsters victimized a local resident by luring him into transferring $3,000 to purchase and install a large car decal.
In another fraud case, complainant transferring money to someone received notification that the wire transfer had been accepted, but later realised the money had gone into another account that was likely “spoofed” by a fraudster.
The complainants have followed up with their respective banks.
Impaired driving
On March 15, Squamish RCMP investigated a complaint of a driver hitting a parked car. The investigation revealed the driver had been drinking before the accident.
The driver was issued a driving prohibition and the car was towed.
In another such investigation, police found the driver to be impaired by drugs after an accident. The driver was issued a driving prohibition and the car was impounded.
Theft of eBike
On March 12, a citizen reported his unlocked ebike was stolen while he was inside a restaurant. The theft happened between 8:30 pm and 9 pm.
The ebike is valued at $8,000 and is described as a green and grey Specialized Turbo Levo ebike.
