District of Squamish to remove portable toilets

staff report
March 29, 2020 10:19am

District of Squamish said it will remove portable toilets from town because of lack of operational resources during the time of COVID-19.

“We do not have the operational resources to provide the additional required cleaning nor can we ensure a steady supply of hand sanitizer to keep the portable toilets sanitized,” district said.

The portable toilets will be removed temporarily from these locations:

Galbraith / Nexen

Eagle View

Fisherman’s Park / Judd Beach

Boulevard Water Tower / Skate Bowl

All weather field (turf)

Adventure (trail) hubs

Hendrickson Fields

Skate Park / Carson Place

Smoke Bluffs Parking Lot

However, the washrooms in Junction Park will be open for day use, with increased sanitation procedures.

The district will also open the changerooms and shower facilities at Brennan Park Recreation Centre.

To assist those without access to shower facilities, Brennan Park will be open daily from Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 9, and then 4 pm to 6pm.
