Man critical after stabbing in Downtown Squamish

staff report
April 6, 2020 4:00pm

Squamish RCMP are investigating a stabbing incident in Downtown Squamish which has left a man in critical condition in hospital.

On Friday, April 3, at approximately 9:15 pm, Squamish RCMP were called about a man who had been allegedly stabbed in an apartment building in the 38000 block of Second Avenue in Squamish.

Upon arrival, police saw people helping a man in his 60s who was suffering from a possible stab wound.

A second male was located on scene and was subsequently arrested by police and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

He was later released from custody and is facing a charge of aggravated assault and will appear in North Vancouver Court in July this year.

The injured man was transported to a Lower Mainland hospital and remains in critical condition.  Police believe the two individuals knew each other and this was an isolated incident.
