Squamish RCMP are asking people to avoid heading up Squamish Valley Road as they deal with a quickly moving fire.

Squamish RCMP is also evacuating back to Cloudburst Road to the East, and fire service and air support are actively involved.

“Squamish Valley Fire is moving East towards Cloudburst Crescent. This fire is not controlled and moving rapidly, if you are in these areas please evacuate. Fire teams are on the West side of the fire,” Squamish RCMP said in a tweet.

The police were informed about the fire on April 15 at 4:15 pm.

“At this moment the fire has jumped from the south side of Squamish Valley Road at Magee Road to the north side making the road impassable,” police said.

The fire is quick moving and the conditions are dry. Police are in the area conducting tactical evacuations and blocking roads.

Police is asking people to evacuate areas around the fire if possible.
