The community is rallying behind a couple who lost their home in the Squamish Valley fire.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Amanda and Andrew who lost their home in the fire.

Chris Weldon, a friend of the couple, says the fire is believed to have started at a farm down the road but quickly spread towards the couple’s home.

Although Amanda and Andrew couldn’t go back to the home, a photo taken by a neighbour shows their home was gutted by the fire.

They were able to rescue their dog, Sable, but their cat is believed to have perished in the fire.

“Amanda Morris and Andrew Boyd are beloved members of our community and have contributed substantially to this town for decades,” Weldon says while urging the community to donate.

Amanda is the owner of Squamish Gymnastics, and hasn’t been able to operate in this epidemic. “This was already a financially challenging time for her and her business,” Weldon says.

Andrew Boyd is well-known in the climbing and mountain biking community.

“Amanda and Andrew are lucky to be part of such of an amazing community we have here in Squamish, and we are even more lucky to have them with us.  They both love this place dearly and it shows. Now it is our turn to give back to them,” Weldon says.
