Sea to Sky RCMP says there will be an increase in police presence this long weekend on the highway and in the communities.
There will be additional driver and vehicle checks along the Sea to Sky Highway, and officers will increase patrols throughout the corridor over the weekend.
RCMP said as with previous holiday weekends, the area has seen a large number of visitors to the Sea to Sky corridor.
“Our plans focusses on lawful enjoyment, safety, and education of regulations and physical distancing,” said Sgt. Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP.
The Sea to Sky RCMP will be working with its partners agencies to address concerns raised by locals, indigenous communities, and local governments during the time of COVID-19.
“We have been working with the BC Traffic Services, Department of Fisheries, BC Conservation Services, Natural Resource Officers, BC Parks Rangers, Forestry, District of Squamish Bylaw, Resort Municipality of Whistler Bylaw, and the Integrated First Nations Unit to create a collaborative approach for highway, backcountry, water and trail system presence”, said Sergeant Sascha Banks.

Dear Ms.Banks, wouldn’t it be nice if you folks could brush off your decibel Checking machines and Aim them at the Motorbikes that scream up and down Highway 99 as they pass through Brakendale.
I would guess that 50% of them are in excess of the limit . They must spend hours at home Ramming a poker up their exhaust pipe.

I wholeheartedly agree with the prior comment on gratuitous motorcycle noise from the riders with modified bikes coming in and out of Whistler. An over the limit decibel ticket campaign is overdue and would be most appreciated
