Squamish RCMP have charged a Squamish man and woman for theft and possession of drugs that were found in a trailer near the Cheekeye substation.

On May 11, Squamish RCMP responded to information of illegal campers around the area of the Cheekye substation and the Cheekye River just off the Squamish Valley Road.

Police arrived to locate an encampment with an RV trailer, which had been stolen from Depot Road a week ago.

Also found were a stolen mountain bike from Edmonton, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, several other drugs, cash, drug paraphernalia, and handgun ammunition from the trailer.

Police arrested a man and woman at the location and they were later released from custody. They have now both been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property, and driving while prohibited.

Police will not be releasing any names until charges are approved by crown.

The investigation continues and police are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100 or contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS/www.solvecrime.ca
