Planned power outages in Valleycliffe and Garibaldi Highlands

staff report
June 4, 2020 12:01pm

BC Hydro is planning power outages in areas of Valleycliffe and Garibaldi Highlands next week.

In Valleycliffe, residents can expect outages in homes on Fir Street, Hemlock Avenue and Spruce Drive. BC Hydro is replacing a pole in the area.

The outage will take place between 9 am and 1 pm on June 12.

In Garibaldi Highlands, power outage will take place on Thunderbird Ridge (40543 – 40547), where work is being conducted on BC Hydro equipment. The outage will take place from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm on June 9 and June 10.

The start and end times, however, are estimated and the scheduled power outage may be cancelled without notice due to adverse weather conditions or because of some emergency, said BC Hydro.

BC Hydro is asking residents to respect social distancing and maintain their distance with the hydro staff.

“We ask that if you see our crews and contractors out in the field, please respect social distancing measures and maintain a physical distance of at least two metres,” BC Hydro said.

For residents on the streets where outage will take place, BC Hydro is advising people to unplug electric equipment to protect electrical devices from damage.

Elevators and garage doors may not work during the outage, BC hydro added.
