RCMP are reminding motorcyclists to be cautious after two motorcycle related incidents on Highway 99.
“Please use caution on all roadways especially those that are in mountainous regions or those that may not be travelled as much as these roadways can collect debris or remain slick due to recent rainfall or weather events,” said Paul Hayes, the North Zone Commander for Sea to Sky RCMP for Whistler and Pemberton.
On June 7, at approximately 1:10 pm, Pemberton RCMP received a report that a motorcycle had crashed on Highway 99 and Titcomb Road in Birken.
Police learned that the driver, a 49 year old man riding his 2018 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, was entering a curve on Highway 99 when he noticed some debris on the roadway and attempted to avoid it.
However, he lost control on the gravel and ended up in a ditch at the side of the road. Emergency Health Service transported the Vancouver man to a Lower Mainland hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening.
This was the second incident in recent weeks involving a motorcycle which was unable to avoid debris on the road on Highway 99.
Police didn’t specify the location of the second incident on Highway 99.
