Squamish RCMP impound drunk driver’s car

Staff report
June 24, 2020 10:41am

Squamish RCMP issued a 90-day driving prohibition to a drunk driver who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt when he was pulled over by a police officer.

His car was immediately impounded for 30 days, and he was also issued a violation ticket for not wearing his seatbelt.

On June 12, RCMP pulled over a driver who wasn’t wearing his seat belt. When the officer smelled liquor on the driver’s breath, he was ordered to give a breath sample, which he failed.

Hit and Run

On June 12, at about 9:15 pm, a driver reported he was driving his van on Squamish Valley Road northbound.

When he tried to turn left into the Squamish Valley Campground, his van was struck by a silver Toyota truck.

The van had minimal damage to the driver side door and there were no injuries. However, the truck driver did not stop and continued travelling northbound.
