A Vancouver man is offering a reward of $2,000 for someone who can find his missing cat.
Owner Mark Koperniak lives in Kitsilano and was staying overnight in his camper van near Sandman Hotel when Mikey, his cat, slipped out of the van.
Koperniak says he last saw his cat at 10:30 pm on June 2 and has since driven from Vancouver to Squamish every day to search for his cat but only to return empty-handed.
Mikey has been with him for the last seven years, and this is the first time that he has gone missing.
Mikey is “super-spoiled” says Koperniak, who fully renovated the van especially for Mikey, where he has his own special door.
“He is a very smart cat and a celebrity in Vancouver. He would often wait besides the van when I was working and would accompany me to the grocery store or wherever I went. In many ways, he was basically like a dog,” Koperniak says.
He has heard some people in the area say they have seen Mikey. He was told by some campers near the Sandman Hotel area that Mikey was seen with a dead mouse in his mouth.
He hopes someone would spot Mikey, even though he says it would be a miracle if the cat is found more than a month after it went missing.
“Money isn’t the problem here because he is the world to me. He was just my best friend,” he says.
