Expect traffic delays on Highway 99

staff report
July 14, 2020 9:39am

Bridge maintenance, blasting and rock scaling will slow down traffic on Highway 99 in the coming days and weeks.

Starting today, July 14, bridge maintenance is planned between Lawrence Way and Murrin Lake Provincial Park for 30 kilometres. This will lead to closure of right lane in both directions as crews work on the Snooper Truck bridge.

The work will continue from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Drivers can also expect delays, anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes, due to blasting work planned between Murrin Lake Provincial Park and Watts Point Road for 0.8 kilometres. Northbound closures daily between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm can be expected until Friday, July 24.

Rock-scaling work is also scheduled at Chippendale Road. There will be shoulder maintenance, blasting and rock blasting on slopes. Drivers are being asked to watch for crews, and lane closures can be expected. This work will continue until July 30.

Those commuting to Vancouver should also be aware of work between Marine Dr and Taylor Place for 0.7 km in West Vancouver.

Drivers can expect closure of northbound right lane, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm until July 16.
