A serious collision involving motorcycles has injured many people on the Lillooet Lake Road on Highway 99.
Several people were taken to hospital and one person was transported via Air Ambulance to a lower mainland hospital.
The highway will remain closed until investigators have completed their analysis.
On July 26, at approximately 1:15 pm, Pemberton RCMP responded to a serious collision involving several motorcycles and vehicles on the Lillooet Lake Road portion of Highway 99, north of Pemberton.
Upon arrival, Pemberton RCMP, the Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police, Whistler RCMP, and Sea to Sky RCMP Traffic members assisted BC Ambulance and Fire Services with several people injured in the accident.
The section of BC Highway 99 was closed in both directions and the Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstructionist Service(ICARS) was called in to investigate the cause of the collision.
“This is the third motorcycle and vehicle collision on the Duffy portion of highway 99 in several weeks and we are asking the public to please use caution when using our highway and back roads,” said Sergeant Sascha Banks.
“We have seen an increase in traffic above the normal summer volume in all of the Sea to Sky and we want to see everyone arrive safely to their destinations.”

Don’t cross the middle line. Simple.

There have been rumors that motor cyclists have been racing through the Duffy Lake section of highway 99 to see who could get the fastest time through this road and even on a round trip. This should be researched. Members of the community of Lil’wat are aware of this.

What kind of motorcycles were these? Curious because there are different breeds of motorcyclists. I know that riders who ride crotch rockets usually like speed because I’ve seen them zip by me in my car and on my motorcycle as if I were going 30km/hr.
