August 11, 2020 11:27am

A fire early in the morning destroyed late Terrill Patterson’s home on Government Road.

Squamish Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at the home on Government Road across from Mamquam Elementary School, said district’s communication coordinator, Rachel Boguski.

There was no one at the home, and the structure was a total loss, she added.

The fire was extinguished and overhauled with the assistance of heavy machinery.

“Squamish Fire Rescue was able to contain the fire to the property of origin without any damage to the adjacent properties on either side,” she said.

The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation. Meanwhile, Government road is open to traffic in both directions.
