Heavy rainfall warning for Howe Sound

staff report
August 21, 2020 6:37am

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Howe Sound.

Heavy rain is expected in the region, and the downpour will continue throughout the day.

An upper disturbance embedded in a southwest flow of unstable air moves into the region today, leading to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms with rainfall amounts of nearly 30 mm.

The total rainfall amount in this 24-hour period will be close to 55 mm.

Showers will taper off tonight as the disturbance moves to the east.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads, Environment Canada warns.

To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
