Squamish RCMP is urging people to be cautious after an uptick in thefts from vehicles in town.
Over the past week, RCMP has investigated four separate incidents involving thefts from vehicles.
On September 8, unknown people stole a credit card from a car that was parked at the Stawamus Chief parking lot.
On the same day, unknown people broke into a car parked on the 9900 block of Squamish Valley Road and stole a portable Yeti solar battery charger.
Two days later, another theft from vehicle occurred in Downtown Squamish.
A citizen who had parked his car in the 1400 block of Winnipeg Avenue found out that some medical equipment along with two credit cards had been taken from his car.
The credit cards were later used in fraudulent transactions.
On September 11, a car owner parked their car in the 1100 block of Village Green Way and had had their wallet stolen.
A card from the wallet was later used to commit fraud at a local business.
“There is again an uptick in these types of offences and we are asking for vigilance in taking valuables out of parked vehicles and ensuring they are locked,” said Sgt. Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP.
