Theft from cars in Valleycliffe and Garibaldi Highlands

staff report
September 24, 2020 11:12am

Squamish RCMP are asking residents to be cautious after several incidents of theft from autos in town.

Residents of the 1400 block of Maple Crescent had their cars rummaged through but nothing was stolen.

On September 18 and 19, between 6 pm and 11:30 am, two separate residents left their cars parked in their driveways on Tobermory Way.

One car owner had their car rummaged through, but nothing was stolen, while another car owner had their wallet and contents stolen.

None of these cars were locked.

“Police remind car owners to do all they can to deter thieves such as locking doors, using a security device, considering area lighting, and having neighbours keep an eye out for each other,” said Sgt. Sascha Banks of Squamish RCMP.

On September 20, a truck parked at a local car dealership was also broken into, causing damage to the driver side door.

Headphones, sunglasses and keys were stolen.
