Library’s call for artists: Sḵwxwú7mesh Nation art on windows

staff report
October 16, 2020 12:25pm

The Squamish Public Library invites artists from the Sḵwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation to submit designs for a permanent vinyl window covering for the front of the library building and the children’s area.

The Squamish Public Library recognizes and acknowledges its location on the traditional territory of the Squamish Nation, and wants to further acknowledge the art, tradition, culture, and land of the Squamish Nation through this public-facing art installation.

The windows of the library offer the opportunity for a large-scale showcase of local art, visible to library patrons, passersby, and the hundreds of people who use Squamish Transit.

The final frosted vinyl design will also be visible from the inside of the building, and provide UV protection while continuing to allow natural light to pass into the building.

Submission deadline is December 15, 2020, 5:00 pm.

To know how to apply and various requirements, visit this library page.
