Strong winds in forecast for Squamish

staff report
November 16, 2020 6:26am

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Howe Sound.

Strong winds up to 70 km/h can be expected on Tuesday.

“Strong southeast winds up to 70 km/h are possible on Tuesday as a strong Pacific low approaches the south coast,” Environment Canada says.

The highest winds are expected to be ahead of the associated cold front that will cross the inner south coast Tuesday morning to midday.

Winds will ease Tuesday afternoon as the low and cold front move inland and weakens.

Strong winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break, the agency warns.

To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
