Squamish RCMP officers are investigating a case of rental fraud where a local citizen was scammed of more than $3,000.
On November 12, a local resident told police about sending $3,200 to the holder of an international bank account to rent a home in Squamish.
After the resident successfully sent the funds, he was unable to reach the person who put out the advertisement.
He couldn’t contact the homeowner either. This file remains under investigation.
Thefts from autos
On November 15, Squamish RCMP responded to several complaints about thefts from autos that happened overnight.
The first theft occurred in the 1500 block of Eagle Run Drive, when unknown people stole a purse and mobile phone from an unlocked car parked in the driveway.
The second theft happened in the 1300 block of Judd Road, where thieves stole items including survival kit, umbrella, sunglasses, and a sundry card.
The third theft took place in the 3800 block of Loggers Lane in a secure parking lot where suspects stole a water bottle, glasses, boots and a bag, and damaged the rear-view mirror in the car.
