Police checking winter tires on Sea to Sky Highway this weekend

staff report
November 28, 2020 4:36pm

Squamish and Whistler RCMP are conducting winter tire checks on the Sea to Sky Highway.

Squamish RCMP said the initiative is not PHO blitz and police will be issuing tickets to violators.

According to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, winter tires or chains are required on most routes in British Columbia from October 1 to April 30.

For select highways not located through mountain passes and high snowfall areas, tire and chain requirements end March 31.

These routes are marked with regulatory signs posted on highways throughout the province, and are enforced by the police, ministry or other enforcement officials.
