Day lot parking fees in Whistler to increase from tomorrow

Staff report
December 14, 2020 12:08pm

Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is increasing the parking lot fees in Days lot one to five, Whistler Conference Centre and Whistler public library.

The fees increase will come into effect on December 15.

Daily parking fees in Day Lots 1-3 will see an increase to $12 (from $10), and Day Lots 4 and 5 will increase to $6 (from $5).

The monthly pass rate for Day Lots 1, 2 and 3 will increase to $72 (from $60 per month).

The monthly pass rate for the Resident-Employee Parking Pass for Day Lots 4 and 5 will increase to $36 (from $30 per month).

The parking fee adjustment was originally scheduled to take place earlier this summer, however, a decision was made to postpone the fee change due the COVID-19 pandemic, RMOW said.

Rate adjustments will also take effect at the Whistler Conference Centre and Whistler Public Library lots on December 15.

Daily rates will increase to $20 per day (from $15). The WCC monthly parking passes will increase to $70 per month (from $65).

“We are reinvesting parking fees into transportation services like public transit that work for Whistlerites,” said Mayor Jack Crompton. “This user-pay model allows us to continue to take critical climate action by delivering sustainable, low emitting methods of transportation”.

Parking fees from the WCC are reinvested into the general operating reserves, while parking fees from the Library lot get reinvested into WPL’s programming and operations.

    Just a pure greed…
Increase was planned for the summer but postponed due to the virus… So, what has changed, did the virus go away, did the economy recover?
Whistler has became a place to avoid and let them survive on their own, my money will not support them anymore.
