Heavy snowfall warning for Whistler, Sea to Sky Highway

Staff report
January 4, 2021 5:26pm

Heavy snow is expected Tuesday afternoon and evening over Whistler and the Sea to Sky Highway near Whistler.

Snow is expected to begin near noon Tuesday as a frontal system moves into the region, according to Environment Canada.

Periods of heavy snow in the afternoon will continue into the evening before tapering off overnight.

Warm air moving into the region overnight may lead to rain becoming mixed with snow overnight.

“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions,” says Environment Canada.

Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains.

To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

Road conditions are also available at www.drivebc.ca.
