Squamish residents may notice an increase in coyote activity over the next few months, the district cautions.
“Coyotes are actively seeking mates with breeding season lasting into March and pups being born into May,” the district.
Activity tends to increase during these important life cycle stages, district added.
Coyotes can view larger dogs as their competition or threat, whereas smaller dogs can be considered a source of food.
Please keep pets on leash and close by, and ensure there are no accessible wildlife attractants on your property, district said.
Sightings and encounters to the Conservation Officer Hotline can be reported at 1.877.952.7277
